Why am I getting a core dump?
Posted in 1993
I have a fairly simple screen in which I use two (2) tables. These are NOT complex tables. 1 has 4 columns and the other has 13. Although, table 2 has 1 column that is a char(420) that a user is using as a description field. I have an esql/c program that is declared as a valueptr that receives a dept# and acct# and returns a sum(x) of a column. A "newperf" was created to access this funtion() and it is working correctly. Problem: The screen is core dumping on an add of table. Nothing is wrong with the program; if I take out an attribute declaration for 1 date field (i.e., take out default=today, format="mm/dd/yyyy"), the program runs just fine!? After testing and re-testing the code I was puzzled why this screen was core dumping on me. So, I added back the attributes taken out and removed some of the 'reverse' attributes and it too solved the problem. Questions: Informix, must have a limit for using attributes on columns. Does anyone know what it is? And, is there a way I can increase this limit, so that it'll allow me to use all that I should be able to? Is this a Bug? (our system is a MIPS 3230 using Informix 4.00.UE1). I can reproduce this problem on more than 1 form. Has anyone else experienced the same?
