Hi all, I have IDS 7.30UC2 on UW7.0.1. Sometime I received the error message in 'online.log' as: Aborting long transaction: tx 0xf352c84 username: steve uid: 534 What is the real cause of this message? What should I do to prevent this kind of error? Thanks in advance for any advice. H.V
Hi Huy Vu, You have transactions that are overflowing the percentage you specified with the LTXHWM config. parameter of the logs files. For example if you have 10 logfiles of 4 Mb (40Mb in total) and LTXHWM = 50. Then informix will start an rollback if a transaction is started more than 50% of the logfiles ago. This is an built in safety-device to prevent the logical logs filling up. There are two good ways to solve this problem: - Make more or bigger logfiles - Change the program logic But whatever you do don't set the lTXHWM higher. Unless your log numbers obviously to small, I'd try and get the program sorted first. The more logs you have the longer this sort of situation will persist if the transaction is very poorly written and is doing a lot of work then your rollback will take a very long time this can cause problems all of it's own. Another point is in the above situations engine crashes can be very painfull with the system in fast recovery for ages. mja In article <384C073D.6FB6C2D4@concepts.nl>, Rob Prop <rprop@concepts.nl> wrote: > This is a multi-part message in MIME format. > --------------FDFCAF35B674209B8DD2D1FD > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > > Hi Huy Vu, > > You have transactions that are overflowing the percentage you specified with > the LTXHWM config. parameter of the logs files.
