Hi, I'm using INFORMIX-ESQL Version 9.16.UC1, INFORMIX-SQL Version 7.20.UD7 with Informix 7.30 on SuSE Linux 6.1. if i compile my perform-runner i get some error messages : /home/informix/lib/tools/libasf.a(pipe.o): warning: previous common is here /home/informix/lib/tools/libos.a(ospipe.o): warning: multiple common of `mt_init _clk' /home/informix/lib/tools/libasf.a(pipe.o): warning: previous common is here /home/informix/lib/tools/libos.a(osqlidbg.o): warning: multiple common of `afdeb ug' Thanks in advance for your help Andreas Beckmann

Note that ISQL 7.20 is compiled with a 7.2x version of ESQL/C, which is not compatible with the CSDK 2.10 (ESQL/C 9.16) version of ESQL/C. You probably need to use the I4GL c-code compiler to convert the ESQL/C into object code, and then use cperf to link the object code into the p-code runner. Anything else is likely to lead to problems. There may still be other problems, but fix these issues first and report back. If I get time (doubtful), I'll try to check up. I've actually had no problems with that combination on the original compatible Linux distro (Red Hat 5.2), except that I had to add -fwritable-strings to the cc line. I suspect he is encountering a gcc/glibc issue with the 7.2 tools themselves. I can't recall if a suitable backward-compatibility package is available from SuSE for 6.1. For example, a similar problem occurs when using cperf/cace with Red Hat 6.x unless the gcc/glibc backward-compatibility packages are installed and the older compiler accessed via setting INFORMIXC. Andreas: have you tried compiling a 4GL 7.2 program on the same machine? I suspect the results would be similar. The 7.3 tools, when available, should avoid that issue. -- Alan Denney yosemite at accesscom.com "Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first woman she meets, then teams up with three complete strangers to kill again." -- TV listing for "The Wizard of Oz" in the Marin paper
