Richard, SQLMover does replication between homo- or heterogeneous databases. Get the MS or Intersolv ODBC driver for text files. Define your text files using ODBC manager. You can choose any kind of delimiter. Install SQLMover and point to your Informix table as source and the appropriate text file as destination. Choose INSERT as Operation. Go to the Mappings tab in SQLMover and press "Guess". If you have given the text file fields a smart name the mapping will be automatic. Press Execute or if it is a large table schedule the job to run later. You can also do a reverse operation. Remember that the text file ODBC driver does not support the DELETE statement but it supports real WHERE restrictions as well as conversion and system functions. The following example would be a valid SQL SELECT statement against a text file. (if you sometime want to import from a text file instead of exporting): SELECT custID, custName=custFNAME+' '+CustLNAME, date1=date(), 'San Mateo' as City, custZIP, custPost from textfile.txt. You can of course use a lot of string functions (see the Access users guide for more info) in your select query. You can download both the MS ODBC text file driver and SQLMover from http://www.sqlmover.com for SQLMover, use the eval key: 1JHHYDOHG.
