Check your INFORMIX-NET/PC (or INFORMIX-CONNECT) settings. If COLLCHAR vari= able=20 is set to 1 in INFORMIX-NET/PC setup, every CHAR/VARCHAR data type variable= s=20 are converted to NCHAR/NVARCHAR in client - server direction and every=20 NCHAR/NVARCHAR are changed to CHAR/VARCHAR in opposite direction. This happens both when entering SQL directly and using the table editor. Issuing the same statements using DBAccess on the server results in the expected behaviour. OL 7.20 has NCHAR/NVARCHAR catalog tables, but obviously some miscommunication has happened at Informix leading to this very nasty bug. Only workaround known so far: don't use VPPRO for anything other than normal DML/query statements.
