I don't think hosts.allow/hosts.deny is a replacement for hosts.equiv. 2. Add yout client address/name in $HOME/.rhosts 3. Make a correct configuration on client using SETNET utility. - You could try setting the Password option to "Password" and enter the password and user name in SetNet - You could try setting the Password option to "Ask Password at runtime". Then, when you are trying to connect through ODBC you will get a prompt to enter the password. - Set the Password option to "No password". In this case you should set the login/password string in connection string in your application. IMHO the third way is most acceptable.
