I have been having a problem moving our programs developed on an AIX Box using Informix ESQL/C. It seems the informix librarys use dlsym, dlopen function in there libraries. If I statically or non statically link my programs they run fine on our development box, when I move them over to another box they have a problem finding the dlsym - dlopen references. Has anyone run into this problem and understand how ESQL/C links in shared or static librarys. Using LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable doesn't seem to work. If anyone knows this well please send me an email at rlosey@xceed.com Thank a head of time.
Isn't dlopen, etc. part of the programming interface to the dynamic linking loader, once developed for Solaris? If so, then you need to read the man pages for your particular platform and figure out how to link your code to the system library that contains the dlopen functions. On our IBM server (AIX 4.2), the library in question is libld.a (I think). You may want to link with this file and see if it works.
