5.02uc6 port info

There is a rumbling on this newsgroup that this is a bad port. We are
looking at bringing it up into production on our SCO box. How bad is it?
What problems have you seen?
We are currently testing it on our development machine and have experienced
the following:
the dbaccess -s syntax is no longer supported (annoying)
The optimizer has made some strange choices. We dumped the tables
involved and re-created them, thereby setting the npused statistic
to 0 and ran the queries again. This fixed one problem. But
what will happen as that number changes over time????
The optimizer ignored an index access which could have occurred using
the phrase symbol[1,4]=".ICN" in favor of some long sequential
read. The previous release used the index on symbol.
Close Database leaves a remote engine hanging. (Could be because of
the Istar version inconsistency, but this has not been a problem
before). The engine on the remote machine hangs then finally
aborts abnormally.
The reason that we want to upgrade is because our current release handles the
npused statistic incorrectly when inserts and deletes are done on the tables.
This causes the value of npused to go negative sometimes and then the
optimizer makes some very bad choices. I am not surprised that we had to
dump our tables, but now I am not sure that I have found an apparent cure to
one problem, not a real cure and not the answer to all our troubles.
What is the story with 5.0x? There have been bad releases time and again.
There exists no tools software with a compatible level, which means we have to
reinstall the engine when we get bug fixes for our tools. Is Informix
orphaning this engine?
