It goes something like this (in v7) Insert : 48 bytes (header) + size of row (Add 4 for each varchar) Delete : Same as insert Update : 48 bytes (header) + original + new Note on update : 1, If original=new, then no logical record created. For example, if column containing "abc" is updated to "abc", no logical record is created. 2. The size of the update logical record is dependant on how much of the row is changed. For example, if column containing "This is ridiculous" is changed to "This is crazy", the logical record size will be 48 + the size of 'ridiculous' + the size of 'crazy' There are other logical log records for transaction handling, checkpoints, etc HTH Rudy samir BADAOUI wrote: > Hi all, > any one have a idea how can I calculate the size of logical logs needed for > a given transaction ?? > Thanks for any idea, that can help me a lot. > > ______________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
