Hi all. I'm sorry I've lost the message from the other day that I'm referring
to, but Art Kagle mentioned that by having a service referenced in the sqlhosts
file for both a shared memory connection and an IP connection would cause lots
of useless polling by the CPUs. Does anyone know how this polling activity can
be monitored and how significant the negative effect is?
Thanks,

The idea was that you should always run shared memory connections thru
CPU VP's and network/IP connections thru NET VP's, lest CPU VP 1 spend a
lot of time spinning and generating LOTS of unnneeded system calls.
As for monitoring CPU VP usage, I think an onstat -g glo would work.
As for monitoring the number of system calls, I'd like to get an answer
to that myself.........
