HIE "INFORMIXERS" My server is hanging and the error message is " too many open files" and I understand that this is done at Unix level . I am using Unix system V and Solaris how can I configure the kernel parameters?
Have not built a Solaris kernel in years, but I think the parameter is nfiles. At any rate it is documented in the Solaris manuals. Art S. Go as deep as possible into $INFORMIX/release and do grep -i "kernel parameters" * or grep -i shmmax * to determine which document has further information about the kernel parameters you should be looking into.
