thanks. so it appears that the components then are: 1) solaris (unix) based web server netscape includes webdriver, shared library, configured obj.conf, iconnect. do you also configure /etc/services for iconnect?,other files? and 2) and a hp with a informix 9.20 udo - webblade (registered) and to actually use it (without app page builder) 3) client component like ddw (nt) can you get the shared library, and the webdriver without buying a complete datablade for the web server machine? georhill@my-deja.com wrote: > Assuming from your mention of "obj.conf" that you are using netscape > web server and that you are using the nsapi interface, AFAICT, the web > datablade shared objects (.so) will have to be on the same machine as > the web server, since the path to them is specified in the Init > directive in obj.conf. Sounds right. Note that /etc/services and $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts on the web server need to be configured together to point to the remote database. Don't know about licensing, but I don't see why the relevant .so files can't be moved/copied from the database server machine to the web server machine. Haven't tried it though. sounds pretty scary to use the shared lib from one platform on another machine with a different codeset, different chips, different set of include files for their different low level access. am i wrong? on the other hand... georhill@my-deja.com wrote: > Sounds right. No, you're right, of course. I forgot about the different platforms you are using.
