Recovering database from dbspaces
Posted in 2011

Hi, I have dbspaces(root, data and log) of an instance. I want to recover the database from these physical files on some other machine having same OS and hardware. Is there any way to get it done? Thanks, Anees
If and only if the engine that wrote them was properly shut down, and you
can get either the same version of Informix or one that is sufficiently
close that an in-place upgrade of the dbspaces is possible, then yes. Just
copy the chunk files or devices to files or devices on the other machine,
recreate the original paths, create an ONCONFIG file and sqlhosts file
substantially similar to the original server's ONCONFIG and sqlhosts files,
and start the engine with 'oninit -v'.
