Install Informix 11.7FC2
Posted in 2011
A user installing IDS 11.70.FC2 on Solaris 10 hit an error when ./ids_install launched its bundled JRE: ".../jre/bin/amd64/java: cannot execute". Responders noted the amd64 path shows the downloaded media is the Solaris x86/Intel build, which won't run on SPARC hardware (or there is a permissions issue on the extracted JVM). The advice was to download the correct Solaris SPARC media and retry, or contact IBM support; a suggested -javahome none workaround was dismissed as not applicable to the 11.70 installer. No confirmation from the original poster is recorded.

Hi, I am trying to install IDS 11.7FC2 on SUn Solaris 10. When I run ./ids_install - console I get the following message : Preparing to install... Extracting the JRE from the installer archive... Unpacking the JRE... Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive... Configuring the installer for this system's environment... Launching installer... ./ids_install: /tmp/install.dir.18165/Solaris/resource/jre/jre/bin/amd64/java: cannot execute Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem. Thanks
Hello. You could check for the included JRE, instead of using yours. Try executing ./ids_install -console -javahome none Hope it helps. Best regards. You are using Solaris Intel media. Check and download Solaris media. Retry your installation. 11.70 uses Java based but different installer. Suggested command line is not applicable. To get started, check out the documentation link for details http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v117/topic/com.ibm.igul.doc/ids _ix_023.htm Sundar. It appears that you have an Intel JVM and maybe you have a SPARC version of the software? Or, there is a permission problem on the JVM as extracted. Most likely, I think you have the incorrect download. If not, contact IBM Technical Support. -- Jonathan Leffler <jonathan.leffler@gmail.com> #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix - v2008.0513 - http://dbi.perl.org "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused." --001636ed6782ef6e8904a02dc0c6
