RE: I-NET FOR 32 BITS?
Posted in 1997
I don't know if we are having the same problem but it does sound very
similar.
Our problem was that indexed joins were very slow. We setup our system
to set explain on and took a look at the output. What we found was that
every query that used an index on a char(x..) field would not use the
index and perform a sequential scan. We found that if our queries were
accessing non char indexes everything was fine. We also found that
running the exact same app against ON-LINE we found everything worked
correctly. We corrently have a case open with Informix tech support.
We are working with them to setup a test env so we can get it logged as
a bug.
Ex.
table 1
field1 char(6)
feild2 integer
both fields have there own index. (index1 on field1,index2 on field2).
select * from table1 where field1 = "XXXXX"
sequential scan
select * from table1 where field2 = 2
indexed filtered....
