Ok, if all else fails then check these things. I know its the basic
stuff but what you are trying should certainly work.
1. do netstat -a | grep bsoc
2. do netstat -a | grep bctest_svc
If you find a socket for each service in listen mode then your
instances are really listening to those ports. If they are not
listening then there should be an error in your online.log or you did
not restart your instance after changing the DBSERVERALIAS parameter.
On initialisation the online should start a listener on each port for
each server listed in DBSERVERALIAS.
Then check what you are setting INFORMIXSERVER= to and what you are
setting your ONCONFIG= to. Make sure before starting dbaccess that
these are correct.
Also you can try using the connect option in dbaccess to change
servers. Does that work?
If this does not help sort it out then check the unix system log for
errors. You may be running out of sockets or mbufs for the network.
The only other thing is we had a problem with informix dropping ports
in pre 7.14 versions, which meant we had to restart the instance.
Maybe this will turn out to be the same problem for you (this was on
NCR though).
