RE: Error when adding chunk to dbspace
Posted in 1996
Dave I have seen this error when I was trying to restore ver a 5.x tbtape = tape from a client's installation onto mine (also ver 5.x). On doing = tbtape -r, after fixing the different tape block sizes, etc., it finally = refused to go forward saying "bad group ID". I figured it out this way: = the client had a different uid:gid combination for informix than what I = had. For your case, a probable reason I can think of is that the chunk = you have created has a different uid:gid combination from what informix = has or what your dbspace currently has. Hope this helps Sujit Pal CSC Intellicom ---------- From: Dave Parmer[SMTP:dparmer@ix.netcom.com] Sent: Friday, August 30, 1996 8:08 AM To: informix-list@rmy.emory.edu Subject: Error when adding chunk to dbspace We are getting an error "bad group ID" when adding a chunk to a dbspace. informix support told us to change the group ID from 60 to a number over 100. We did this (and changed the group id's of the files) but still get the same error). We also are using a symbolic link to the raw device file. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
