OLE DB note!

I was on the registared users part of www.informix.com today and noticed a bulletin about the OLE DB provider not registaring itself properly when installed from the SDK installation on a windows client. They gave directions for manually registaring it. The note was fairly new, so people should be aware and reach the note. This "will not" be in the release notes that come with the SDK!
I've installed the CLI-SDK 2.5 on windows 2000 and and cannot create a datalink, In the datalink "provider" tab, I select Informix OLE DB Provider I click Next> And I get "Provider is no longer available, ensure that is installed Properly" Is this related to the problem explained here ?? If yes, where can I find the info to register the old provider manually <jwillis@lcc.net> wrote in message news:8ttfse$s6$1@news.xmission.com... > > > I was on the registared users part of www.informix.com > today and noticed a bulletin about the OLE DB provider > not registaring itself properly when installed from > the SDK installation on a windows client. > > They gave directions for manually registaring it. > > The note was fairly new, so people should be aware > and reach the note. I was able to get around the "Provider is no longer available" message by going to the $INFORMIXDIR on the client and running "regsvr32 ifxoledb.dll". I wasn't able to find any thing on the informix web site that remarked about a bug in the installer. This really makes me angry! It looked like they took off some of the pages that talked about OLE DB 2.5, so I think they know there is a problem. Then again I might just really suck at searching. Oh well! hope the above info helps someone. -Eric In article <8uots6$71c$1@news.mch.sbs.de>, "Etienne Charlier" <Etienne.Charlier@siemens.be> wrote: > I've installed the CLI-SDK 2.5 on windows 2000 and and cannot create a > datalink, > In the datalink "provider" tab, I select Informix OLE DB Provider > I click Next> And I get "Provider is no longer available, ensure that is > installed Properly" > > Is this related to the problem explained here ?? > > If yes, where can I find the info to register the old provider manually > <jwillis@lcc.net> wrote in message news:8ttfse$s6$1@news.xmission.com... > > > > > > I was on the registared users part of www.informix.com > > today and noticed a bulletin about the OLE DB provider > > not registaring itself properly when installed from > > the SDK installation on a windows client. > > > > They gave directions for manually registaring it. > > > > The note was fairly new, so people should be aware > > and reach the note.
