Re: upgrade

It's relatively easy but will take some time and effort: 1. Read the upgrade manual. 2. Read the administration manuals that came with 7.2 All of them, and every page. 3. Read the manuals on backup/restore. Select the tool you want to use and learn it - every detail of it. 4. Read the other manuals - at least cursory. 5. Do the upgrade as per the manuals. This is what we did from SE to 5.x Online and on to 6.x and 7.x. It has worked out reasonably well. It would be helpfull to get the manuals from the administration courses Informix is giving, or go to them yourself. If this is too hard you may need external help. There is no shortcut to this. If you have only administered a 5.x database before you have to learn several new things for the upgrade and later maintenance to be successfull.
