Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
I've chatted to a couple of people recently who have / are using Oracle,
and were told Online problems are a problem - is this true, or are they
just not configuring it properly ?
Was also told the old versions, like 8 of Oracle could not do online
backups - but don't know where they are with this now. I guess I will
find out soon - with us migrating to Oracle.
My apologies for sending it to this group - will take the discussion
offline or somewhere else as suggested.

If someone can't do backups in any version of Oracle since 7 I
would suggest that they have an IQ below room temperature in
degrees Celsius.
If they can't do it using RMAN from version 9i and on then perhaps
they should be reclassified as a vegetable.
But why is this stuff in an Informix group? Shouldn't it be in c.d.o.?
