Hi, In case of HDR do we have to have the same chunk paths and same size on primary as well as secondary server, I can understand that we need to have same dbspaces. Thanks in advance. Yes. Chunk paths and size , as given in the
onspaces command got to be
same. In fact you can not give onspaces command on the secondary server.
You give it on the primary server and the secondary server automatically
creates it.
The only luxury you have is to create a link to the path the way
you want it. As long as the path given in onspaces is a valid one,
Informix will not complain. To give an e.g.
On Primary server /ifmx/dbs54 may be a link to /dev/rdsk54 (raw disk)
On secondary server /ifmx/dbs54 may be a link to /usr/informixdata/dbs54
(cooked file).
onspaces -c -d dbspace54 -p /ifmx/dbs54 -o 0 -s 2048000
This will work.

Yes, the chunks will need to exist on the secondary with the same path names. However, the path names can be links. For ifo
:
Even in IDS 9.40 you cannot rename a chunk while doing a cold restore for a
initial HDR setup.
I've tested it.
On the "omode -d secondary xxx" command you will get a message in the log as
"cannot change mode if renaming chunk"
