I don't think dbacces is meant for development. Is it? I thought it
was for the occasional manual "update statistics" or "select count(*)...."

With the Informix ODBC driver for Linux installed you can use Star Office, as
well as severel other "commercial" packages (Applix, etc...). UnixODBC comes
with some "nice" but not particularly advanced tools. Also the gnome-db
component can interface an ODBC driver DSN to any Gnome app that can use the
gnome-db component. Of course their are also all those Java apps that use
JDBC. No shortage of options.
