RE: Connecting to Informix via TCP\\IP Question

You didn=B4t mention the Informix Version, but assuming you have DSA , which comes with the Network products bundled, then you should only need to configure the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file to add an entry = like: dbservername nettype hostname servicename The dbservername correspond to the $INFORMIXSERVER environment variable, the nettype, I assume that your sunsparc is using TLI , and = the=20 hostname is the hostname of your computer, which usually you keep in the /etc/hosts with an IP address associated with it, and the service = name is the name of the service that your application will be use to = communicate with the host , this can be an arbitrary name, but you must add an entry in the /etc/services unix file. In your client machine, you can install two products, INFORMIX-CONNECT, and INFORMIX-CLI the ODBC Driver, configuring INFORMIX-CONNECT is something as similar as configuring the sqlhosts but with a GUI = interface, and then ad an entry in your ODBC Manager of 32 bits using the=20 INFORMIX CLI.
