root/informix users in a script

The installation of IDS 9.20 and the ClientSDK/Connect packages require the installer to be 'informix' for the former and root for the laters. How do I automate this process within a single script ? I know I can easily do this with two scripts where the first script, running as root, will install the IDS as su - informix -c "installIDS" and then go on as root install the SDK. I guess this is more of a shell script question but I thought you may have a single handy script to install both in one shot. Thanks, Thanh Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Wile, Thanks. Now that I want to install I-CONNECT and the 'installconn' script asked for the same serial and key that I entered earlier for IDS 9.2 I would like to automate this process by piping in the serial and key to installconn, -s SERIAL -k KEY. I could get the SERIAL from $INFORMIXDIR/etc/.snfile but don't know where the KEY was kept. Any idea how to achieve this ? Thanh > > Wile > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I discovered that RUN_AS_ROOT was created on the fly during the installation of IDS server and the SERIAL and KEY are stored in it. I simply grep for those and feed them to installconn. It worked wonder. I am thinking Informix could have provided options to pass in the SERIAL and KEY just like installconn. Thanh Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
