I just completed several benchmarks with both DEC Alpha and Sun E boxs for our data warehouse project and we had to partition the 4GB Dec drives and the 9GB Sun drive into 2GB partitions. Your application will determine how much memory will be used by Informix. On Dec you will have a better chance of using the large memory model because of the 64 bit Informix port. On Sun tricks are played to use memory above 2GBs and how well it uses very large memory models is yet to be seen.
