Hi,
can anyone help me to solve this problem !!!!
lines from online.log
.../
10:17:03 shmat: [ENOMEM][12]: out of available data space, check systemMAXMEM
10:17:03 out of virtual shared memory
/... many lines like those two

What should I understand by
1)out of available data space, check system MAXMEM
2)Make more virtual memory available to OnLine
in other words whats wrong ?!
I can see in my online.log many lines like this
dynamically allocated new shared memory segment (size 2097152)
It seems that there are no more users as usually !
Plateform SCO OSR 5.02
Informix online 7.12 UC2
Quick help will be appreciate
Thanks

Hello Joel,
the amount of shared memory use is not only depending on the number of
concurrent users,
but also on the tasks they are performing.
Maybe setting SHMTOTAL in Your ONCONFIG to value different from 0 my help.

Then sum this values and let SHMVIRTSIZE = this sum. Then set SHMADD to about 0.5*SHMVIRTSIZE. -- With best regards, Yuri Dovgart, SAP R/3, Informix consultant, "Telecominvest" company. Informix is asking for more memory than the operating system is able to
give it. If this is happening outside of initial startup, you may want
to play with the Informix virtual segment size parms and make sure that
your usual requirement is allocated up front. If not, check the release
notes for your version of Unix and compare the suggested kernel parms
against what you have. Some systems have more-or-less firm limits on
the amount of shared memory that can be allocated system-wide (HP-UX
comes to mind, since that's snookered me a few times). There are kernel
parms for number of shared memory identifiers and number of shared
memory segments per process that may also come in to play.
Likely there is nothing (or very little) wrong with Informix. It's just
the messenger. Start by looking at your OS configuration.
Bonne chance!
