Turn Transaction Logging OFF

I've tried to use % ontape -N databasename but nothing...
Can someone please give me a step-by-step instruction.
All help is greatly appreciated

1. No connections to the database.
2. ontape -s -L 0 -N database

Are you working as informix? Possibly root also has the authority to do the
work, but an ordinary Joe won't be able to issue that command.

What the hell does ondblog do? It won't print a usage of itself. Where's
