Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Question:
1 - What Informix onstat commands or Unix statistics can I analyze to
understand the cause for long delays when connecting to our database. I've
looked at "onstat -g nt?" commands but they don't seem very useful.
2 - What Informix/Unix parms can I "tune" to reduce connection times
Background:
- Hardware/Software: HP-UX 11, Informix 7.31.FC2
- We have Informix 4GL applications running on an application server
connecting to our DB server.
- Application server is connected to db server via 2 100Mb network paths.
- The connect time on average is ~ 3-4 sec but is extremely variable and can
peak up to 40 seconds.
We've tried experimenting w/ adding listen threads and poll threads but
haven't seen much improvement.
Thanks for the help
