I would have loved such a cross compiler if I had believed it to be possible. Currently I doubt that, but may be you can convince me otherwise? Do you plan to write such a beast yourself? In the absence of such a cross compiler we would also be extremely interested in report writer functionality along the lines of what is currently available in 4GL, but implemented in an object oriented way and with extensions for font and some graphics support and the ability to print anywhere on a page at any time. If you plan anything let's here about it. I at least am willing to pay for these things. :I think Java would be great sitting on a server, being talked to by :whatever front-end tool you happen to like: Delphi, PowerBuilder, :*or* a Web development language like Java. Or Java as a pure MS Windows application development language where it is also a powerfull alternative. Remember it can generate fully compiled EXE programs with all MS Windows facilities available. :Application Partitioning without NewEra or C[++]. Exactly. :We do this now with 4GL and some socket routines, but I'd like to go :down an OO route in a language with a future. I would love to see your socket routines (in Delphi on the PC side and C on the Unix side I asume). We need the same thing as a stop gap until we have rewritten things in Java. :Sorry if I wasn't clear in the original posting. : :Cheers, :Kerry "Seems to be missing his sig" S Nils.Myklebust@idg.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company The Informix FAQ is at http://www.iiug.org
