All my licenses (SE, OL, v4, v5, v6, v7) talk in terms of USERS. > I also have a menu driver program but it disconnects from Informix > before running the menu option. Hence it remains legal. What about printing? In our OLTP environment, most of our front-office apps print 2 or 3 documents at the end of an entry. The printing is done using RUN WITHOUT WAITING. So, from 2 connnections which my user has, every now and then, s/he's jumping to 5. I think that I need to take up the matter with Informix Support and set this, fairly fundamental issue, at rest. > > I call a C funtion which does:- > > int i,status; > > (void) sqlexit(); > status = waitpid(-1,&i,0); > if ((status != 0) && (status != ENOCHILD)) > { > fprintf(stderr,"OOps , no children"); > sleep (4); > exit(-1); > } > There was a thread on SQLEXIT a few weeks back (which I wanted to use primarily for memory-saving). Unfortunately, without the C-compiler version or ESQL/C, I cannot do it. However, I now am running my menus under SE5, while the 'action programs' call by the menu run on OL7 (This must be illegal :)). This (wierd) method does seem to use less memory because the unix SE sqlexec processes, which are usually dormant, get swapped out for a large % of the time.
