guess i bombarded you with a lot of extraneous info. the manuals
are confusing about the difference between some of the different types of
writes. if the *page cleaner* initiates a write, that is an idle write. if
a foreground write takes place, it also alerts the page cleaners, which
then do their job, but this is considered an lru write.
in 7.X they did away with the idle write on the onstat -F option.
i think it is superfluous and confusing. foreground, lru and chunk are all
that you need to be concerned about. they probably realized this and did
away with the idle write statistic and nomeclature.
