Hello, I am now writing my diploma in "Developing an system independent backup strategy for rel. databases" and actually i am developing a windows backup and recovery tool a allow users to have easy access in backing up and recovering databases. It should be implemented for Informix and Oracle. Therefore I would use the Windows ODBC - Interface. Now the questions: 1) Is it possible to have access to Informix binary tools like "OnArchive" or "OnDataRTR" ... on my DBMS Remote Unix Host via ODBC from Windows ? OR 2) Is it possible to start and have access to a Unix shell on my DBMS Remote Unix Host via ODBC from Windows and then execute the Informix Binaries ? (Also, because I need System Status Information ...) 3) Is this possible for Oracle Binaries also ? 5) What Software should I have to use ? (I use Borland C++ 4.0 for developing the Windows Part) So, a lot of questions and hopefully some answers in the next time ... Only 4 months to go ... (So please hurry up) Thanx, in advance DMC
