why 'update statistics' run so fast in IDS9.4?

Hi Is any one know why IDS 9.4 running 'update statistics' so fast ? I executed this SQL command and it finished immediately. I doubt whether it do the same works as old version IDS. It take a few hours to get through it in earlier IDS versions.
