Archive Utility
Hello, I am looking for utility or the way to archive all my Views and Indexs definition to file. This will help me restore those Views or Indexs when someone in our dept. reorganize tables from Baan Application. You can use
dbschema -d <database name> -ss
which will produce you a whole database schema.
But seeing as you only create one database with Baan and all the tables from
different companies reside in the database you may have pretty large file if you
have a lot of companies.
You could list all the views from the systables and do a dbschema on the results
giving you a list of all your views.
i.e
for i in `dbaccess baan -<<EOF 2>/tmp/err.log | grep -v "tabname|^$"
select tabname
where tabtype = "V"
and tabid > 99;
EOF'
do
dbschema -d baan -t $i $i.sql
done
As for the indexes. If I remember Baan has a specific naming convention and
creates indexes only on hash columns unless you have a level two driver.I can
only suggest any extra indexes you have added on, you give them a specific
naming convention to distinguish them between Baan indexes and you own indexes.
Also keep a copy in a file somewhere of this indexes.
By the way are you re-org the tables to de-frag them or is it just a Baan schema
change ?

Use the Informix dbschema utility or my expanded dbschema replacement
utility myschema available for download from the IIUG Software Repository in the
package utils2_ak.
