And finally from Sun: The versioning confusion in JVM is being fixed in the next Java 2 release, 1.2.2, scheduled for release in summer. This isn't a hotspot issue, though, but a generic JDK issue. The confusion arises over the release version (1.2.2, say) and the specification version (1.2).
