Re: Renaming Owner of the DB

A database very definitely *does* have an owner - just take a look in onmonitor | Status | Databases. I don't believe the owner can be changed, but that doesn't seem to be the motive behind the question - removing the relevant privileges will do the trick, as Jonathan explains. Ownership and privileges are not the same thing. But doesn't the creator of an object have absolute rights over it so there would be no specific privileges to remove. If I produced a schema There is not an SQL statement granting DBA to that user - because that user created the DB so has full privileges over it and anything created within. Sorry about the confusion, running DBSCHEMA does include an SQL statement granting DBA privileges to the user. If I revoke this user's privileges to 'connect' would I still have to modify the owner to remove table level privileges? Just make sure you create the individual tables with a suitable owner name. Hi all ,
You can be sure that databases (and all other objects) does have an
Owner:
execute this statement in dbaccess, e. g.
Select * from sysmaster:sysdatabases ;
Then, you can see the owner of each database!!
IF YOU DON'T want to allow users create databases, ONLY informix, you
should add a line in "onconfig" file:
# Only informix user can create database
DBCREATE_PERMISSION informix
If you want allo informix and root users to create databases:
# Only informix user can create database
DBCREATE_PERMISSION informix,root
Best regards !!! Good luck !! RFO
