Might as well throw my $0.02 in here. Truth is the most financially successful people in this country do not have college degrees, take away the wealthy who inherited the wealth and the number of degrees drops further still. By the time you get accepted to a college you have already proven that you can eductaed yourself, remember the SATs? College teaches you to conform, conformity thwarts creativity and success depends on creativity. With a few rare exceptions you will not be exposed to "cutting edge technology" in a college, technically the computer business changes far faster than colleges can put together the course and deliver it. For this reason college means very little in some technology companies. Take the case of PASCAL ( A totally abysmal language ) still being required in most CS programs. Sure it is very structured but why use a syntactically tight programming language to teach structured programming particularly when it is unlikely to be used again. As far as structured programming goes, it is not always the best method, some problems simply are not structured. I have a degree, but it is completely unrelated to my job and I usually don't even tell prospective employers I have it. Truth is I have made the most money in pursuing my own ideas... Enough already Mike
