How to set up temporary space per session

Hi, I have an application that creates large temporary tables, causing temporary dbspaces are full. This hurts the entire instance. At the moment it is not possible to change the application. One solution would be to increase the size and / or amount of the temporary dbspaces, but this causes an unnecessary expense in the instance space. The other solution might be of (while modifying the application) is to use a directory in which to write these temporary tables. The question is: IS there a way set up the temporary space for a particular session using a disk directory. I tried with PSORT_DBTEMP, but it does not work. Currently, the instance run on Informix 11.50 running on hp-ux The parameter in the onconfig file DBSPACETEMP is tmp1: tmp2: tmp3: tmp4 Please, provide me any clues according your experience. Thanks in advance, Roger
DBSPACETEMP is also an environment variable that you can set = before connecting to the server. You should try using this environ= ment variable. John F. True, but I have noticed that you need register previously the temporary dbspace in onconfig file, I thought there was some way to make the settings "on the fly", by session. Roger
If the spaces exist then you should be able to set DBSPACETEMP in the calling environment Cheers Paul > -----Original Message----- > From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of > ROGER VILCA > Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2013 5:00 PM > To: ids@iiug.org > Subject: Re: How to set up temporary space per session [31270] > > True, but I have noticed that you need register previously the temporary > dbspace in onconfig file, I thought there was some way to make the settings > "on the fly", by session. > > Roger > > > ********************************************************** > ********************* > Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum.
