Re: ODBC Drivers

Alex, I have tried both Intersolve and Openlink drivers. I am using Informix 6 on an IBM RISC/6000. The Intersolve driver do not work, even working with their tech support extensively, they could not make it happen. I sent their "software" back. Openlink drivers are much better, but not perfect. One real advantage to Openlink is that INET on the client side is NOT required (a sizable amount of money saved). It took a couple of updates from them on both the client and server side, but they are helpful and reasonably responsive, (especially considering they are based in England). I now have a functional ODBC connection with only a few (minor) problems (occasional GPFs etc), but looking back on what I've been through I have to be pretty happy. The bottom line is this: If you don't HAVE TO use an ODBC connection, don't! If you have to, get ready for a lot of hair pulling, questionable performance, and a bunch of other annoying problems, but if you can get through it, you'll be doing something not too many others are doing (successfully anyway).
