Informix & Baan Installation

I hope there is an Informix Guru out there will be able to
shed some light on this.
We have a HP9000 D270 (a single CPU PA-8000 at 160MHz) with
256MB RAM and 4x4GB HDD running HPUX10.20.
Installed on this is Informix OnLine version 7.23.UC6.
Listed at the end of this message are the parameters I think
may be helpful for anyone who wishes to try and solve this
problem.
The Problem: I am in the process of installing Baan IV on
our system which is using OnLine as its database server.
This installation is supposed to take less that 12 hours to
complete, yet on our system it takes 9 days to install!
(I am in the process of doing this a second time, and that
is why I know how long it will take despite being in the
middle of the installation process.)
The reason I am reinstalling is because I thought that there
must have been something wrong with my OnLine setup at the
first instance, and so I recreated it all again.
However, the problem persists!
One thing I have noticed is that using 'onstat -g sql sesid'
on a given baan session suggests that each SQL statement is
taking *forever* to complete (I mean *hours*).
If anyone can shed some light on this I would really appreciate
it.

Configuration Details:
According to the $INFORMIXDIR/release/en_us/0333/ONLINE_7.2
release notes, our system does not support ipcshm so I have
configued for NETTYPE ipcstr and soctcp.
I have raw devices:
