Excuse the newbie-ness here, this is my first real encounter with triggers.
I sure hope its a newbie question and not one that's going to make me spend
weeks trying to figure it out. She's headed off on vacation for three weeks
and will come back with an empty head - it would be nice to have the pat
solution installed.
A cow-orker has been trying to get an update trigger to work. The companion
INSERT trigger works, but the UPDATE trigger comes back with a -556 'cannot
create or modify an object on a remote database'. I've tried a number of
things, creating the trigger on the source database and putting the SPL
she executes on the remote - same problem. I've also tried the update by
remote (connect to source and from SQL update databases@server:table ...
- same error. I know this sort of thing works because she has copied
code from a working trigger just like it which works fine. Both databases
are logging databases. On-line 7.10 engine.
Any thoughts?
adv(thanks)ance
cheers
j.
