CAST TEXT TO BLOB

Hello: IS there any way to cast a text column to BLOb one? I tried to do this with no success: ALTER TABLE t add pdf2 BLOB; update t set pdf2 = pdf::blob; REgards. --001a113a7afe338c96050eae1bbc
