DEFER QUIT and INTERRUPT: I4GL 4.10
Posted in 1993
We're developing an I4GL application for a client who would like the Interrupt and Quit keys remapped in a particular way: the Quit key should not end your application immediately, but should instead act as an alternate Interrupt key. (The application has already been developed to exit gently when Interrupt is pressed.) I've heard it claimed that in earlier versions of 4GL, pressing the QUIT key during an INPUT statement when DEFER QUIT had been executed would invoke the ON KEY (INTERRUPT) clause (if present). I'm only familiar with I4GL 4.10, and as far as I can tell, this doesn't happen. When an I4GL application receives a SIGTERM signal and DEFER QUIT is turned on, it merely sets "quit_flag" to "true" and continues on its merry way. Is this correct? Assuming this makes any sense to y'all, is there any way of changing the Quit key's functionality? Our development environment is Informix-4GL 4.10 (and FourGen, but I don't think that's relevant to this particular problem) on SCO 3.2. -- ____ Tim Pierce / Richard got married to a figure skater / \\ / twpierce@unix.amherst.edu / and he bought her a dishwasher and a \\/ (BITnet: TWPIERCE@AMHERST) / coffee perkulator.
