linux-informix@iiug.org Subject: flushing logical log files in IDS.2000 X-Mailer: VM 6.43 under 20.4 "Emerald" XEmacs Lucid Message-ID: <14762.62468.102488.717498@caracas.CS.Berkeley.EDU> Thanks to all that replied regarding my note about my E/SQL app hanging. However, it appears that the problem was that my logical log files were full and needed to be flushed. Although I was able to solve this problem by re-initializing the root dbspace, the documentation seems to indicate that the only way that I can flush the logical log files is to back them up using one of informix's backup or archive tools. However, the system I am building is a research simulation, and thus I have absolutely no need for backups or archives. Is there any quick and dirty way (other than rebuilding the entire DB) of flushing the log files without using the backup software? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Matt Denny
vi $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG
change LTAPEDEV /dev/null
Note: if its NT, then set LTAPEDEV to NUL
Bounce Informix
onmode -yk
oninit
This will free the logs after every log switch.
