How are you trying to initialize it? ie what are you running? Did it
hang during installation, or is it subsequent attempts to initialize
that hang?
Just making sure you're not trying to run oninit directly from the
command line, UNIX style.
Also if you run "onstat -m" from an IDS command window when it appears
to hang, what do you see?

full 51.2MB? If not, you killed the oninit too soon, the time spent was in
creating and padding the initial chunk. It's one problem with using COOKED
files for IDS chunks.
