copying databases with onbar

I posted this once this weekend, but it doesn't look like it made it
through my isp. I apologize if it shows up twice...
Has anyone used onbar to migrate a database from one server to another?
I'm using same o/s (Solaris 2.6) and the same Informix release
(7.31.uc5). Is there anything about the backups created with onbar that
make them machine dependent? I can use ontape for the migration right
now, but that takes about 8 hours and if I am working from home will
require trips to the office to change the tapes. Is there a way to
trick onbar into using the backup from another machine?
Thanks,

Before you buy.
I have used onbar to copy an entire instance to another host (consisting of
multiple databases), but not just one database. I don't believe onbar has
sufficient granularity to do that.
If you are really talking about migrating an entire instance, kindly post
what storage manager you are using (ISM, SQL-Backtrack, etc.).
