Against the 4GL report statement PRINT FILE, the manual says You can use the PRINT FILE statement to include the body of a form letter in a report that generates custom letters. which kinda suggests this approach. Another way is to go with something like Uniplex, which has a database interface built in and is a full-blown word-processing package. It comes with an USQL database, but you can point it at (e.g.) standard engine Informix.
