Well if you still haven't got a..., er, decided, then you won't beat Compaq Alpha as a match for Informix. The only reason I would hesitate to recommend their tin is that they are not high up on Informix's porting list and consequently often have bugs long after the others get a fix. You certainly can't fault their kit, and they handle shared memory.... well, they handle it, which is more than can be said for any other box. As to porting, version 7.31 is now stable, but 9.20 is not really production. Although there may be a later 9.20 out now, but don't even think about 9.21 or greater. It's a shame, because out of the kit mentioned so far (all of which I have worked with), Compaq/DEC is by far the superior to run Informix on.
