onload problems?

I used the command:
$ onunload -t ankb.dat prd:sapr3.ankb
to unload a table that I'm moving to my test box from production.
I use the command:
$ onload -t ankb.dat dev:sapr3.ankb
and receive the errors:
Error positioning within TBLspace.
ISAM error: illegal key descriptor (too many parts or too long).
Any guess as to what I'm doing wrong?
TIA

It's a bad idea to use onunload/onload to copy tables. Use
dbunload/dbload or my dbcopy.ec utility instead. My guess, the table
already exists on dev: with a different index structure.
