Some questions about Dynamic Server - HELP

Hi, I am preparing a comparision of different RDBMs for my boss. I am curious about some questions (I can't find answers on Informix site). What phisical limitations for database elements does Dynamic Server have? I.e.: maximum count of tables = max size of one table = max size of one record = max count of fields in one record = max count of records in table = max count of indexes = max count of indexes per table = Does Dynamic Server support distributed queries and transactions, similar to Oracle or Sybase? Does Dynamic Server and related tools include any CASE tool? What do you think about Informix Dynamic 4GL, is it good tool? Under which operating systems does it work? How good (or bad) is technical support from Informix, what is the quality of technical documantation? Can you help me? Thanks in advance Leszek Kozlowski.
Most of these types of questions can be found in the release notes. I would suggest that you read them. They are found in $INFORMIXDIR/release/<language_type (i.e. in the United States en_us)>/<Specific language (i.e. on NT 04e4)>/SERVERS_<level>. For instance on my NT laptop, it can be found in %INFORMIXDIR%\\release\\en_us\\04e4\\SERVERS_920.txt. On my Solaris machine it is found in $INFORMIXDIR/release/en_us/0333/SERVERS_920.txt. Look for "Limits in". Thats where the information begins. I'm copying the information from my NT installation below. It might help. Leszek, Madison already answered some of your questions. Here are the others. Informix supports distributed transactions and replication. Informix 4GL is great, is supported on most platforms (Linux, AIX, SUN, NT), and is widely used and depended upon. Technical support is adequate. Documentation is thorough. Classroom training is excellent. Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sears, and many, many others use Informix for their operational, managerial, and accounting needs. What better endorsement can you get. I inferred from his question that he was doing an evaluation prior to purchase. In that case he wouldn't have the release notes. Refarding documentation, I think it is generally very good. In my opinion some topics. for example SQL, are distributed across too many manuals, and there is lacking an overview document that describes the full product set. I still receive stuff and think "What the hell is this?" Technical Support in the UK is generally OK, but a lot of stuff is referred back to the US. Based upon opinions on this site, US customers seem to have a better opinion of Tech Support.
You can find all you need from the Informix DB Admin manuals which can be downloaded from the Informix website, and the web site is open for all.
